Generating a tax packet
The Tax & Export workspace assembles fiscal-year reports and supporting schedules for tax preparation.
Prepare the packet
- Choose the entity type and tax year.
- Review Tax Prep Readiness and resolve missing or partial inputs.
- Review the Working Trial Balance and any displayed tax-line labels.
- Post approved adjusting entries through the journal-entry workflow when needed.
- Select Generate Tax Packet.
The page advertises a 17-file package, but the committed export service currently writes 13 files to the ZIP: working trial balance (CSV and PDF), general ledger CSV, fixed-assets depreciation CSV, 1099 summary (CSV and PDF), sales-tax liability CSV, profit and loss CSV, balance sheet CSV, tax-packet adjustments CSV, accountant cover sheet (CSV and PDF), and a README.
The standard trial-balance files, PDF versions of profit and loss and balance sheet, and chart-of-accounts CSV shown in the page’s package preview are not currently added to the server-generated ZIP. Check the downloaded archive rather than relying on the preview list. Individual report downloads remain available from the Documents tab.
The current page displays adjustment totals in the Working Trial Balance but does not provide controls to create or post tax-packet adjustments. Use the regular journal-entry approval workflow for book changes. Generation uses the export service and downloads the resulting package locally.
A readiness percentage is an operator aid, not tax advice or proof that filings are complete. Validate the package with your preparer.
