Setting up your chart of accounts

Set up the chart of accounts in two stages: select a rule package for an initial industry baseline, then maintain accounts in Accounting.

During onboarding, the rule-package step lists available packages, required parameters, allowed values, and defaults. Selecting a package applies its current version to the active organization. Review the package before selection because it can create ledger configuration and rules.

Open Accounting > Chart of Accounts to search the resulting hierarchy, add or edit permitted accounts, archive or restore non-system accounts, and maintain account-level tax labels. System accounts cannot be archived and delete is disabled in the current page.

Do not add duplicate accounts solely because an expected code differs. First review the existing type, subtype, hierarchy, and posting purpose.
